Ferdinand: the fish who feared bubbles
Meet ferdinand, a finicky little fish with an unusual problem
Ferdinand is a lovable fish with a loathsome problem: he is afraid of bubbles! Though they don’t understand his irrational fear, his friends show their love by rallying around him. Together they try and create a solution to help Ferdinand conquer his fear so he can join in the fun like everyone else.
But when a sudden emergency puts his friend Seahorse in great danger, Ferdinand must act quickly. Though this big-hearted blowfish wants to save his friend, there’s only one problem standing in the way: bubbles!
real writing…but for the wiggly ones.
This classic children’s book is a giggle-filled bonding experience that actually speaks to a very profound reality: the struggle that arises when a fear is crippling to us, yet seems odd to the outsider. This tale warmly portrays the lengths good friends go to to help a comrade work through a not-so-typical problem, despite them having a hard time understanding. The character Ferdinand was designed particularly with the neurodivergent individual in mind, showing the magnitude of inclusion in loving those whose differences we may not always understand.
Ferdinand: the perfect gift for the wiggly ones in your life
Meet the author
Dr. Macy Bassler
Macy is a pediatric physical therapist, certified breastfeeding specialist, and mother of four. She began her writing career in the trenches of motherhood—telling stories off the cuff to her little ones as she’d try to get them to sit still and fall asleep at bedtime. In seeing her children’s delight in these stories, she began putting them to paper and refining her craft so she can build a legacy for her family.
“I wrote Ferdinand for my wild little four year-old boy. Truthfully, he’s more into jumping off of things than reading books. This work started as a bedtime story pulled from thin air to calm him down, and ended with the loudest giggles I’d ever heard.
There is gas humor. The word count is low. But it reels these little rambunctious ones in. And we all have to start somewhere. Because a story is more than just a lesson or an escape, but it’s also the bonding experience you have reading it with the child.
I hope this book plants the seed in your little one’s heart that will grow into a love of story. ”
