A Prayer of Wonder: Helping Your Child See God in the Everyday

How can we nurture wonder in our children and help them see God’s goodness in the world around them? In this prayer inspired by Romans 8:18–25, we ask the Lord to preserve our children’s sense of awe, deepen their love of truth, and lead their curiosity toward worship.

May the wonder in your child’s soul remain with them as they grow. May their eyes still light up at a flower in bloom, and may they pause to notice the small wonders of creation that others overlook.

Pray that your child would seek knowledge not for power or pride, but to know the Creator more deeply. May they recognize God’s fingerprints throughout creation and see the goodness of His nature reflected in the world around them.

And as your child grows in understanding, may they also learn that creation is beautiful yet broken. Flowers fade, night falls, and living things pass away. But these present sorrows are not the end of the story.

Romans 8 reminds us that creation itself groans as it waits for restoration. We pray that our children’s wonder would point them beyond the beauty they see today toward the future glory God has promised.

May your child’s wonder lead them to worship, not away from the One who made all things. May they learn to see the world with curiosity, gratitude, and hope as they long for all things to be made right.

Amen.

Raising Children Who Flourish in Wonder

Wonder is more than curiosity about the natural world. It can become a pathway to knowing and worshiping the God who made it. As parents, we can encourage our children to notice creation, ask meaningful questions, pursue truth, and remember the hope we have in Christ.

Listen to this episode of Prayers for Parents and speak this prayer of blessing over your child as you nurture a lifelong love of God, His creation, and His promises.
